Willamette Valley Company, a long-time Eugene-based wood product manufacturing firm with a global market share, re-purposed an existing warehouse for their new Eugene R & D facility designed by PIVOT Architecture. The company’s research and development activities require laboratory work in addition to administrative and other office tasks. As lab work is the core of the workflow, the plan places the laboratory in the center of the building. The adjacent office space makes the most of the daylight available at the building’s perimeter, providing flexible and energy efficient work spaces that are economical and adaptable to changing needs. The lab and office spaces are intended to be positive work environments that inspire service, problem solving, innovation, and execution. The overall design and product selection honors the forest product industry and Willamette Valley Company’s longstanding contributions to wood product innovation.
