A major remodel of Lane Community College's student union building was an opportunity to replace the bookstore with something that lives up to its name: the Titan Store.
Since the sales floor was certain to be densely occupied, the primary opportunity to shape the space shifted to the ceiling plane. A sculptural “starfish” ceiling form floats in a Titan Blue glow, and links the store’s points of entry with service counters. The back-of-house spaces, which are framed in reclaimed wood from the remodel, wrap around the sales floor to give staff great visual and physical access. The project was designed in association with Perkins + Will.
