For decades, Lane Transit District has offered the citizens of Lane County alternative transportation options. Their forward thinking is aptly represented by Springfield Station, a transit center that features many sustainable technologies. These include bioswales to filter storm water, energy-efficient site lighting, and a ground-source heat pump to heat and cool the building.
The station offers natural gardens, open shelters, ample parking, and a tenant building to the thousands of riders who pass through this space each day. The station is also a critical hub for the LTD’s bus rapid transit project, EmX, which links downtown Eugene to downtown Springfield.
As the first new major development in downtown Springfield in nearly 25 years, the station began a much-needed revitalization to the city center.
