Since the transit line’s inception, PIVOT has developed the iconic stations for EmX, one of the nation’s prototype bus rapid transit systems. Due in part to its elegant stations, EmX has gained international recognition and is moving into its third phase of expansion.
EmX’s pilot corridor included eight stations between Eugene Station and Springfield Station, both of which PIVOT designed. The second phase connected the Gateway area with downtown Springfield and the third phase nearly doubles the size of the system along a busy corridor in west Eugene. PIVOT has partnered with engineers WSP on all phases of the project.
The iconic sail shelters and other well-established EmX brand themes have been carried through each phase of the project. The stations' design accommodates both single- and double-sided platforms while providing flush boarding onto vehicles and amenities such as shelters, lighting, signage, public art, and ticketing.
