The PIVOT team designed the modern teaching and learning facility—an important part of a tight-knit community—with safety, security, efficiency, sustainability at the forefront of design. The new building is a high-quality learning environment for 450 students built according to current seismic standards.
The new Camas Ridge is being built on the old school’s site, which was demolished to make way for the new school. At seven acres it is smaller than typical elementary schools sites and has a significant grade change in elevation. Streets that terminate into the property were also considered with the site design which is sensitive to scale of neighboring houses and views to the south.

Views from the administrative office to the parking lot let administrators monitor who is coming onto the site for safety purposes. To provide students and staff with daylight, the design team incorporated a number of skylights which are shown reduce glare and bring eight times more light into buildings than windows.
The exterior was designed with a mixture of materials including multiple colors of phenolic panels, brick veneer, metal panels, and a complimenting standing seam metal roof.
