What kind of facility do you need to keep track of 600 buses, 50 light-rail sets, and hundreds of thousands of riders each day all spread over 500 square miles? PIVOT helped TriMet answer that question with a state-of-the-art solution.
Working closely with an extended owner team, PIVOT designed the Operations Command Center (OCC) as part of the renovation of the Center Street headquarters. The OCC features a 31-foot-long video display that shows the entire rail system with real-time train locations and track controls. The floor, raised for tech access, is tiered to allow the two rows of rail control operators to clearly see the display. Work stations can be adjusted with power-operated consoles each with its own HVAC unit as the OCC is in operation 24/7.
Room acoustics and lighting were carefully designed to support the workers' need for concentration and clear communications. The 1,100 CCTV cameras in the system can be viewed on shared displays or at individual consoles. The new facility also includes a training center, emergency operations center, data center, and supporting activities.
