C-TRAN's first BRT line "The Vine" intersects with the transit agency's regular fixed routes at the cohesive Vancouver Mall Transit Center.
The transit center successfully incorporates two BRT bays, six fixed-route bays, and a 660-SF driver relief building which has clear sight lines to the shelters. Both the structure and the shelters follow a staple-like design that gives the site an architectural consistency and also ties into C-TRAN's branding and the Vine's identity with its "Walking Sticks" stations.
At the transit center, an artist designed and created glass panels for the shelters that depict the seasons amid a green “stix” pattern and artwork embedded on the platform that highlight Native American and local history.
PIVOT partnered with lead engineers WSP on the project.
