Provo and Orem Intermodal Transit Centers

Utah Transity Authority

With the Wasatch Range so close you can almost touch it, PIVOT had majestic inspiration for two intermodal transportation centers south of Salt Lake City. PIVOT led the development of urban design concepts, master planning of two sites for future commercial and transit-oriented development, as well as design of the pavilions and shelters.

The intermodal centers serve as passenger connection points for fixed-route buses, bus rapid transit, a commuter rail line, and also include large park-and-ride facilities. Limited funds meant that some of the shelters will be built in a later phase, however the two pavilions provide an expressive, elegant, visual punctuation to the most heavily-used passenger waiting and boarding areas. PIVOT was part of a design team led by the national engineering firm PSOMAS.
