Linn-Benton Community College’s new Agricultural Center will provide new facilities for the college’s Animal Sciences Program which is in high demand.
The center is a response to the increasing popularity of agricultural science education and will include separate barn space for equine, beef cattle, swine, and sheep programs. An animal science classroom, which can double as an indoor arena, will also support the Livestock Judging Team and the Equestrian Team. The project will be built in several phases.
With the animal barns on the facility’s outskirts, six fenced paddocks will be placed along its central spine of the facility. Each barn also has its own outdoor space for animals to roam when not enclosed.
PIVOT is leading the project with GH2 in Tulsa, OK as design architects.
The facility will occupy about 8 acres of the 53-acre site, with the remaining space available as pasture, land for subsequent phases, and the addition of crop science to the school’s curriculum. Along with several central paddocks, the 40-stall horse barn and classroom building have been deferred for subsequent phases. Crop sciences and trailer facilities are considerations for future use.
