Aero Bechtle is a designer who recently received his Bachelor’s in architecture from the University of Oregon Clark Honors College. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a thesis on accessible lighting design. He loves to hike, make music, swim, play video games, and try new recipes. Aero is passionate about designing for everyone, regardless of demographic and abilities.
Clay Neal, Newly Licensed Architect
Congratulations to Clay Neal, PIVOT Architecture’s newest registered architect!
Clay began his journey at PIVOT in 2017 as the inaugural PIVOT fellow while studying at the University of Oregon. Shortly after his graduation the following year, Clay returned to PIVOT as a full-time designer. Since, Clay has contributed immensely to the team by tackling projects like transit design to K-12.
“Architects use their imagination, creativity, and problem-solving abilities to respond to some of the toughest issues our communities face,” Clay said. “I’m excited to join a profession focused on creating beautiful and affordable housing, smarter and more vibrant cities, and universally accessible places that we all love to be in.”
“Clay is incredibly thoughtful in his design because is so good at listening to the client and understanding their needs,” said fellow architect Alexis Sliwinski.
Clay is aiming to use his architectural and stellar client relation skills to find solutions for the “Missing Middle” housing crisis, which was the focus of his 2017 PIVOT Fellowship.
Clay joins the fifteen other registered architects at PIVOT Architecture.
Supporting Holiday Farm Fire Survivors
PIVOT Architecture is proud to share this amazing short documentary created by Lane County high school students. The piece tells the incredible story behind the Future Build project where students, volunteers, and agencies came together to bring hope to the survivors of the Holiday Farm Fire in the McKenzie River Valley. PIVOT continues to support this project and others like it to connect our youth with community, opportunity, and a chance to make a positive impact.
Katie Hall, PIVOT’s Newest Principal!
PIVOT Architecture is thrilled to announce that Katie Hall, AIA, NCIDQ, is our newest principal! Woo hoo!
Katie joined the firm 12 years ago and quickly made a positive impact. A licensed architect and certified interior designer, Katie has a strong design sense and communicates well through clear, concise drawings and graphics. She specializes in creating branded environments and express the values and characteristics of her projects.
“Katie connects well with people,” Principal Kari Turner said. “Her positive energy and sense of humor add to her creative side which makes for engaging projects.”
She has been instrumental in various types of projects including Campbell Community Center, Coconut Bliss, LCC Center Building, and many more.
Recently, Katie has been a key leader in PIVOT‘s transit work including projects with King County Metro and Sound Transit in Seattle, Pierce Transit in Pierce County, WA, RVTD in Medford, and others.
“I draw energy from working with people,” said Katie. “Creating spaces that are equitable, well designed, and contribute to the public in a positive manner is what really inspires me.”
Katie joins Kari Turner, Kelley Howell, Toby Barwood, John Stapleton, and Larry Banks as PIVOT’s six principals.
